Why I cannot import Contacts having special characters? How can I correct the error?

Contact name field will not accept any special characters other than dot(.), underscore(_) and hyphen(-). However, while importing you will get an option to replace all other special characters with spaces, as shown below.

Upon clicking on Yes, all the special characters except dot(.), underscore(_) and hyphen(-) will be replaced with white spaces.
